motivation
URIs are unstable over the lifespan of these files... Rather than being stuck with a now obsolete URI we want a simple system that would translate namespaces to URIs.
requirements
A preferably short abbreviation that would map a couple of key pieces of data:
- a short name (e.g., the paleobiology database might use "paleoDB")
- the present URI for the resource (e.g., presently uses http://paleodb.org/)
- the id name (e.g., the paleobiology database uses taxon_no)
